Mixing Basics - Part 5: Liquid-Liquid Dispersion

Dispersion of immiscible liquids to create an emulsion is one of the main challenges in process industry. Some of these emulsions need to be stable as a product, others need to separate within a defined time in order not to endanger the process goal. In this fifth event of a series on mixing tasks we will focus on emulsification in agitated reactors – what about the selection of impellers, power input and periphery. We will provide information on the efficient design of corresponding mixing setups. We will show different process solutions and provide information on how to scale-up to commercial.
