Gassing

The gassing of liquids, with the objective of achieving the highest possible mass transfer rates between the dispersed gas and the liquid, is a particularly important unit operation in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, in environmental technology and above all in biotechnology.

Agitator power

To design an agitator, it is necessary to know the power number for a gassed impeller

Trails of vortices with small bubbles, attached cavities and, in the flooded condition, a large gas space, are formed in the low pressure area, depending on the agitator shaft speed and the gassing rate. With normal six-bladed disk turbines the cavities and gas spaces reduce the fluid friction, so that the power number for this agitator is greatly diminished when gassing takes place.

Due to the shape of its blades the EKATO PHASEJET is eliminating cavities under gassing conditions. The gassing number is therefore only slightly diminished, there is no fall-off in power and highest possible mass transfer rates are granted.

The EKATO PHASEJET has a conical disk with distributor teeth, thus making additional internals such as gas distributors superfluous.
