The functioning of a mechanical seal centers around its seal faces, where friction causes wear and generates heat. All the other components of the seal must be designed so as to minimize this wear and dissipate the friction heat optimally. In our development department we use state-of-the-art measurement apparatus such as thermographie (see photo) and calculation methods including FEA (finite element analysis) and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) to create dependable mechanical seals offering a long service life. Long-term tests under practical conditions are constantly being performed to verify this.
